The Challenge

Takeda was a customer of Microsoft Azure. They had built their CRM K2 system on Azure but suffered budget issues for their IT department. Additionally, they want to build an HA architecture for K2, which was not likely to implement on Azure Cloud.

Why Amazon Web Services

Before migration, Takeda conducted a thorough survey with other public cloud providers. The cost estimation shows that using AWS will help K2 system save approximately 30 percent with RI pricing from Amazon Web Services (AWS), compared against that on Azure. And AWS provides abundant and various API for S3 that helps Takeda to achieve HA architecture easily. AWS RDS support stronger function, which will help Takeda reduce their labor costs to maintenance their DB.

The Benefits

Currently, compared with Azure, Takeda has reduced cost about 20 percent after migrating to AWS. And RDS SQL server satisfied their function requirements for K2. Through knowledge transfer to their partners, they have learned S3 API and start their customized development for K2 in AWS natively, which achieve much lower cost and less maintenance for their infrastructures.
